Description:

Basil is 10 years young, a really nice fellow who just loves people. He's a bit of a Kootenay Special, but most people assume he’s a Red Heeler based on his size and behaviour.
Basil is in fine health, but he does have a minor heart murmur. Basil knows some hand and voice commands. He prefers 1/2 to 1 hour walks, and is a good walker on or off leash, sticks right with his people. He likes most dogs, but he would be happiest to be the only dog in the home, as that is what he has always been used to. He can be intimidated by groups of larger dogs and may react when charged/dominated. We're not sure, but he would likely be fine in a home with a confident cat.
Basil has grown up with kids and has been patient, calm and passively protective but now he would probably prefer a calmer home with an established routine where his people are around most of the time.
His fur is short, but he is a bit of a shedder and requires regular grooming.
The adoption fee for Basil is $250. KAAP adoptions include a reference check and home visit to ensure our animals are going to the very best homes. Due to this, we will be giving preference to applicants from the West Kootenay region. We reserve the right to select, in our view, the applicant that is the best match; not first come/first served.
