Description:

Lexi has not had an easy life.   She has been living as a stray and having kittens in various places her whole life.  She was captured in July, along with her 5 kittens and brought into a KAAP foster home.  We initially didn't know how she'd respond to being indoors, and with people, but we believe that she is not "barn cat" material,  because her foster family has noticed that although she is frightened, she responds to kind, quiet touch.  She is now ready to be loved and cared for in a quiet home. She is extremely shy and quiet as she hasn’t had much interaction with people. She is calm, doesn’t hiss or swat, but she is scared. She tenses when picked up but has been able to calm down and settle in, even if for a very short time. She will need a safe space and a lot of TLC. We think once she has time to understand she is loved and no one will hurt her, she will be a very loving girl, we have seen it in little moments. She has such a desire to be loved and we feel that in the right, patient home, she will thrive. It may take some time, but there is nothing more rewarding than earning the love of a cat that has been so badly let down by humans in the past, it is truly rewarding and Lexi is just so deserving of this. Because she was on her own and fending for herself, we believe she should probably not join a home where there are other cats that are strangers to her. This thought may change as she has more chances to meet the other cats in her foster home, but right now she is pretty protective over her kittens and we aren't stressing her out by allowing other cats in her space.

Can you be Lexi's forever, loving home? This beautiful girl deserves the best :)

Lexi has been spayed, microchipped, and dewormed. She has also had 2 sets of vaccinations, so she is ready to go and start her new life of safety, warmth, and regular meals!
