Meet Willow, a 3 year old English Pointer. We adopted her through the SPCA 1.5 years ago. They thought she was a Dalmatian and would be a great fit for our home. In many ways she is, but being a hunting breed she needs a lot of exercise and space. We unfortunately can’t provide enough of either. She needs to run off leash often.
She’s great with kids, and dogs in general. She loves to curl up on a bed or chair. She loves watching out the window. She will snuggle, be your shadow, check on you, and keep you company. She will also go after chickens and possibly birds if given the opportunity. If you have a large fenced in property, enjoy off leash hikes, and can keep her out of the chicken coop- you will thoroughly enjoy this sweet girl. She’s pretty easy going. But will dart out the door to take herself on walks if given the chance. She prefers off leash strolls. Although we’ve had some success with a different collar. She’s house trained, but will go in the house periodically. We haven’t been able to fully break her of this habit.
We aren’t just looking to rehome Willow. Her new home has to be an approved fit. We are even open to the prospect of staying in touch and taking her for adventures if the new owner is open to it.
We are hoping to turn our adoption fail into a success by being transparent about her breed and challenges.
