Meet Huxley. 1/2 Doberman , 1/4 Merrima, 1/4 Bernese. Adopted off a farm in Three Hills, AB as a puppy in 2020. I was given him as a Mother’s Day gift. We had a big yard and access to nature parks and a dog park only a 20 min walk from home. socialization with people in our home was non-existent for the first 2 years. He is very protective of the home, but so loving and friendly to all inside. He’s also great at dog parks, and is safe with cats and kids over 6 yo.
Since moving to Nelson in 2023, we lost our senior dog to old age, Huxley’s first friend. We also no longer have a fenced yard and many wild animals in the area which create natural instincts for barking and protection. We used to be able to drive him places to run and hike, but I’m am now on disability and not able to do the leg work. My son is ASD and requires a more quiet and less chaotic environment, and frankly so do I.
i am also recently separated and have never driven a car, so I am not able to manage Huxley and my Autistic son at the same time.
it breaks my heart because he has potential for so much greatness. He definitely needs somebody with experience working with farm dogs and guard dog types. But he is so gentle with kids and so loving. He’s great with cats and other dogs in the home and at Offleash parks, just not strange dogs walking in front of the house. He needs so much room to run and play and a job to do to be happy.
If you think that you can provide the right home and family for Huxley, please reach out directly to me. I’ll keep meeting people until the ride home is found because he deserves all the things that I can’t give him..
He is fixed. He has all his shots up-to-date.
Thank you for your consideration.
