Meet Huxley 💙

Huxley is a 6-year-old large-breed mix (Doberman / Maremma / Bernese Mountain Dog) who is looking for the right home where he can truly thrive.

He is an incredibly loyal, intelligent, and affectionate dog with his people. He loves his family deeply, is very tuned in, and has a gentle, loving side that really shines once he feels safe and comfortable.

Huxley would do best in a rural or acreage setting with space to move and a calm, confident handler who understands protective or guardian-type dogs. He has strong instincts to watch over his environment and his people, which makes him devoted—but also means he can be reactive to unfamiliar people, animals, and activity.

Because of this, he is not a fit for a busy neighbourhood or a home with young children or frequent visitors. He needs a structured environment where expectations are clear and he can settle into a consistent routine.

Huxley is currently being managed with a muzzle and leash in public settings, and he would benefit from continued work with someone experienced in handling large, protective breeds. He has so much potential in the right environment, especially with someone who can give him a sense of purpose and stability.

This is a very difficult decision, and we are committed to finding him a home that truly meets his needs. He is a good dog who deserves the right match.
